3.1.9. A chain and asterisks (engine M10)

The prevention

After installation of the piston of 1st cylinder in ВМТ a step of compression and removal of a chain rotation коленвала is not supposed, serious breakages because of impact of heads of valves with the bottoms of pistons otherwise are possible.


1. Establish the piston of 1st cylinder in ВМТ a compression step (subsection 3.1.4 see).
2. Uncover heads of cylinders (subsection 3.1.5 see). Be convinced that коромысла valves of 1st cylinder freely rock.
3. Remove the top cover of a chain of a drive of a cam-shaft (subsection 3.1.8 see). Be convinced of combination of labels on a flange of a cam-shaft with inflow in the top part of a head of cylinders. Besides, the aperture under a pin of an asterisk of a cam-shaft should be in the lowermost point.
4. Release 4 bolts of fastening of an asterisk of a cam-shaft, keeping the central bolt of a pulley успокоителя, without supposing проворачивание коленвала. On a part of cars are used контровочные washers of bolts of an asterisk which at assemblage can to be established. In this case before отворачиванием bolts unbend ears of washers.
5. Remove the bottom cover of a chain of a drive of a cam-shaft (subsection 3.1.8 see).
6. Deduce a chain from gearing with an asterisk of a cam-shaft and remove a chain, an asterisk of a cam-shaft and коленвала (see more low). If necessary slightly пристукните on an asterisk to shift from a place.
Condition check
7. Check up presence on leading and conducted asterisks крючковатости teeths. At detection of deterioration and damages of teeths of an asterisk replace.
8. For removal of a leading asterisk from a sock коленвала it is necessary to remove segment шпонку and the oil pump (subsection 3.1.15 see).

The prevention

The asterisk напрессована on "hot", therefore is required a stripper of maxillary type. The new asterisk before installation should be heated up to 80 S.Poetomu, according to the recommendation of the manufacturer if it is necessary to replace an asterisk коленвала, it is necessary to remove коленвал (see subsection 3.2.16) and to hand over in car-care centre for thermal напрессовки asterisks.

9. Change in the complete set with asterisks, as a rule at each capital repairs of the engine. The basic signs of deterioration of a chain – the raised noise at work of the engine and formation of paths on rollers.

10. Check up presence of signs of deterioration or damages on натяжителе and успокоителе chains (formation of paths of deterioration because of contact with a chain). At detection of defects replace these details. For replacement get lock cutting washers.

The prevention

For removal натяжителя or успокоителя get these cutting washers, having taken measures to losing a washer as it is possible спружинивание washers at clearing and their hit in the engine.

11. Check up freedom of moving of a ball in натяжителе. If knock at stirring is absent, натяжитель replace.
12. Blow натяжитель from the closed end face and from outside a crack. Air should not pass through плунжер at a purge from the closed end face and should pass freely at a purge from outside cracks.


1. Establish натяжитель and успокоитель.
2. Check up combination of labels by statement to the place of the bottom cover of a chain and a pulley коленвала. After check remove these details.
3. Dress a chain at first on an asterisk коленвала, and then on a cam-shaft asterisk, having directed on успокоителю and directing натяжителя. Dress a cam-shaft asterisk, check up combination of labels.
4. Further assemblage is carried out upside-down. Tighten all fastenings with the set moment.
