3.3.6. Ignition system Introduction

The type of systems of ignition is specified in subsection 3.3.2.


System contactless, the structure of system of this type includes the shaper of starting impulses, the block of electronic ignition, the coil and spark plugs. The block of electronic ignition is arranged under the scheme of the capacitor store and works from the impulses arriving from the shaper. The backlash in the induction gauge of the shaper of impulses is regulated (subsection see.


Work of system of ignition of this type the electronic processor block (ЕСU-блок) operates. ЕСU-блок provides automatic adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition according to signals from gauges which trace various parametres of the engine. The distributor of ignition of this system provides only separate giving of a high voltage on candles and is mounted on a head of cylinders.

The automatic control of the moment of ignition is provided by comparison of the data with реперными. In early systems Motronic gauges реперной points of the moment of ignition and speed of rotation коленвала which are mounted over a flywheel on the left side of the engine are provided. In late systems Motronic one gauge which unites both these functions, mounted on a pulley коленвала is provided.

The prevention

On a part of cars gauge VMT which is mounted in a forward part of the engine is provided. This gauge is intended for system of diagnostics of car-care centre and ignition system does not concern.

At performance of checks and repair of system of ignition it is necessary to observe following safety rules.

1) In system TCI check reliability of connection of the block of ignition with weight.

2) At connection (+) – the tachometre conclusion should be connected with (-) – a conclusion to the ignition coil, connection to the ignition distributor is forbidden.

3) do not suppose a contact of conclusions of the coil of ignition with weight. Otherwise failure of the block of electronic ignition and the coil is possible.

4) At refusal of start-up of the engine or on the idle engine do not leave ignition included for a while большее 10 minutes.
