10.7. Колодки drum-type brakes
THE GENERAL DATA

The prevention

Колодки should be replaced simultaneously on both wheels. At replacement колодок it is necessary to replace also springs and elastic temperature regulators. Because of cyclic thermal loadings on springs the last gradually lose the elastic properties and колодки start to touch a drum that leads to their accelerated deterioration.

As much as possible admissible diameter of a drum

If колодки will not vary, take measures to that. That them not to mix. Everyone колодка should be established on a former place.

If the wheel cylinder leaks or is damaged, replace it after removal brake колодок, having disconnected a tube of a hydrodrive and having turned away bolts. The cylinder is not subject to repair, though in spare parts to it are delivered ремкомплекты.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Block forward wheels, release bolts of fastening of back wheels. Lift a back part of the car and establish on supports. Remove back wheels and release a manual brake.
2. Turn away screws of fastening and remove a drum.
3. If the drum does not give in to removal drip a getting liquid between a disk and a nave and after some minutes remove a drum.
4. If the drum still does not give in to removal (on a drum the development fillet was formed) reduce колодки having turned a thin screw-driver a regulator cogwheel.
5. Check up on a drum presence of cracks, задиров, deep scratches and выкрашивания. If defects are not eliminated by polishing by an emery paper, a drum перешлифуйте.
The prevention

Drum repolishing at each dismantling and check of a condition of a brake is recommended. Drum repolishing is not supposed if its internal diameter becomes more as much as possible admissible (it is specified on a drum).


6. Disconnect the bottom returnable spring at first from a lobby колодки, then from back, and remove a spring.
7. Disconnect the top returnable spring at first from a lobby колодки, then from back, and remove a spring.
8. Remove a clamping spring of a lobby колодки, then a clamping spring back колодки.
9. Remove a lobby колодку with the lever of a regulator and a spring. It is necessary to put the given details at assemblage on new колодку.
10. Remove a regulator in gathering. Wipe a regulator and be convinced that the wheel is scrolled freely. Every time at installation колодок is recommended to replace a thermospring (spring скобу near to a regulator wheel). Rotating a wheel expose a regulator in the position corresponding completely shown колодкам.
11. Disconnect a cable of a manual brake from the lever of a drive and remove back колодку
12. Installation is carried out upside-down taking into account the following.
13. Put high-temperature greasing on rubbing sites of a board of a brake. Do not suppose greasing hit on rubbing surfaces brake колодок or a drum.
14. Be convinced that regulator grooves have come into corresponding grooves on the drive lever колодок.
15. At regulator installation колодок, at first establish the lever on колодку.
16. Then attach the bottom end of a spring to the lever, and the top end to corresponding aperture in a lobby колодке.
17. Upon termination of this stage of assemblage the brake in gathering should look as is shown in a picture. Now it is possible to start assemblage of other brake.
18. Upon termination of establish brake drums.
19. If varied wheel the cylinder pump over brakes (see subsection 10.16).
20. Press some times a brake pedal that has worked a regulator, thus from outside drums clicks should be listened.
21. Adjust a lay brake.
22. Establish wheels and wrap bolts. Lower the car and tighten bolts with the set moment. Check up work of brakes before departure.
