1.1.7. Safety pillows

THE GENERAL DATA

Pillow of safety for the driver of system SRS (additional демпфирования)

The pillow of safety of system SRS is intended for increase of safety of the driver and is additional means демпфирования along with seat belts.

At strong face-to-face blow the pillow is inflated, owing to what provides blow softening along with seat belts and reduces probability of blow of a thorax or a head of the driver about a steering wheel.

At strong face-to-face blow the gauge registers braking and causes operation of the inflatable device of a pillow. In the inflatable device there is a chemical reaction in which result the pillow is instantly filled with nitrogen (gas is nontoxical), constraining movement of the driver by inertia. Naduvanie pillows it is accompanied by loud enough sound and smoke allocation. These processes harmless also do not mean a fire. As soon as possible wash out the rests of the substances participating in gas evolution, as probably insignificant irritation of a skin.

Pillow expansion occurs for fractions of a second and consequently at надувании the considerable mechanical effort develops. The system is intended for decrease in probability of reception of serious traumas, however application of an in itself pillow can cause insignificant damages of an integument in the form of burns, blisters and grazes.

Within several minutes the steering wheel nave can remain hot, but the pillow will not heat up. A safety pillow расчитана on unitary application.

The safety pillow works from a strong face-to-face push within the shaded area limited to arrows.

Naduvanie pillows of safety occurs if force of a push exceeds design norm which corresponds to force of collision with motionless absolutely firm wall at speed of movement of the car of 20 km/hour.

This threshold is obviously exceeded at collision of the car with a barrier which starts moving or deformed at counter blow (for example with the parked car, or with a road column), or at noncentral blow (blow at which the nasal part of the car as though approaches under an obstacle and in collision does not participate, for example under a truck frame).

The pillow of safety does not work at blow behind, lateral blow or at переворачивании the car, and also at face-to-face impact on small speed.

The prevention

The safety pillow is auxiliary means and effectively operates at application of a seat belt which is the basic means for protection at failure. At refusal to use belts vulnerability of the driver at failure sharply raises. For increase of safety the driver and passengers should be fastened by belts at car movement.

Pillows of safety for the driver and the passenger

The safety pillow works even in the absence of the passenger on a forward seat.

If force of blow corresponds threshold one of two pillows of safety provided in the car will work.

The touch device of pillows of safety consists of two gauges – the threshold gauge and the gauge of a pillow of safety. At strong face-to-face blow gauges register sharp braking and cause operation of the inflatable device which inflates a pillow with nitrogen.
