On cars with system Motronic malfunction of processor block ECU can become the reason of failure of the coil of ignition. If there are suspicions on malfunction of the block at refusal of start of the engine it is necessary to check up the coil.

Check and replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Designate and disconnect wires from the ignition coil.

2. Remove the coil and check up a condition of the case, an insulator and contacts.

3. Measure resistance of a primary winding coils (system TCI).

4. On a part of systems Motronic for measurement of resistance of a primary winding remove a coil cap.

5. Measure resistance of a secondary winding. Resistance of a secondary winding is measured in system TCI between a conclusion 1 (-) and a high-voltage conclusion.

6. Resistance of a secondary winding is measured in system Motronic between conclusions 15 (+) coils and a high-voltage conclusion.

7. If resistance considerably differ from standard (change of resistance depending on temperature is admissible) the ignition coil replace.

8. The coil is established upside-down.
